Choose the Correct Records Office
The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office receives mail at One Sheriff’s Plaza, Springfield, IL 62701, and publishes sheriff@sangamonil.gov for general email. Sheriff administration is 217-753-6880. Corrections Administration is a weekday administrative office at 217-753-6763, while jail operations remain open around the clock. Main control, bond information, inmate services, and visitation use 217-753-6886. Corrections general information is 217-753-6887.
For a booking photograph, arrest jacket, public-record request, warrant question, or order-of-protection channel, call SCSO Support Services and FOIA at 217-753-6385; its fax is 217-753-6625. Do not send a records question to emergency dispatch. County nonemergency service at 217-753-6666 is available 24 hours a day for reporting crime, and emergencies belong at 911. These routes identify the proper custodian:
- For a mugshot or booking record, begin with the county recent-arrests hub, then direct a formal request to SCSO Support Services.
- For someone just arrested, check 24 Hour Arrests and the official roster; for several days, use the Arrest Log.
- For release or transfer alerts, follow VINELink Check or call Illinois Automated Victim Notification at 1-866-566-8439.
- For a Springfield police report, call SPD Records at 217-788-8337 or the report-filing desk at 217-788-8325. SPD nonemergency is 217-788-8311.
- For a public court case or disposition, contact the Sangamon Circuit Clerk at 217-753-6674 or circuitclerk@sangamonil.gov, 200 South Ninth Street, Springfield.
- For a sentenced state prisoner’s record and photo, use the Illinois Department of Corrections offender search instead of the county roster.
- For federal or immigration custody, use the official Federal Bureau of Prisons or ICE locator because neither record belongs to SCSO.
